Petrosol X-25
Petrosol X-25 is a unique product that has the ability to dissolve calcium sulfate, paraffin, asphaltene, and forms complexes with iron scale to form a more soluble material in hydrochloric acid. Petrosol X-25 is used as a stand alone well bore conditioner designed to remove acid insoluble materials prior to hydrochloric acid stimulation. X-25 removes existing well bore sludge from previous acid stimulation treatments allowing special anti-sludge acid treatments to treat a clean well bore and preventing further sludging problems to occur. Petrosol X-25 is also used to target specific well bore problems such as calcium sulfate, paraffin, asphaltene, and iron scale without the need of a follow up acid stimulation treatment. Key BenefitsCalcium sulfate scale occurs down hole as a crystalline solid. X-25 dissolves the solid material instead of converting the scale into another state, enabling the calcium sulfate to be removed from the well bore. These scales are often dense, massive, and many times coated with oil and or paraffin - asphaltene deposits, making conventional converters ineffective without a time consuming costly solvent treatment to remove the heavy hydrocarbons prior to treating with a scale converter. Petrosol X-25 removes all the barriers and dissolves scale with one economical treatment. Petrosol X-25 has built-in advantages. Its weight of 9 pounds per gallon compared to xylene at 7.12 pounds per gallon permits X-25 to stay in place on problems in the well bore. X-25 is both oil and water soluble and has surfactants which disperse and keeps paraffin from reattaching to surfaces. Petrosol X-25 works in varying degrees on all types of iron scales. For example, hydrochloric acid alone will not dissolve iron oxide. X-25 will remove about 25% of the iron oxide initially while 90% of the remaining complexes of iron is removed with hydrochloric acid. A common acid insoluble iron scale in the Permian Basin in mackinawite, an iron-sulfur scale. Petrosol X-25 is very effective on this scale as well as iron sulfide.
