Anti Sludge

Anti Sludge Acid Treatments Make Up 70% Of All Acid Type Pumped

How Sludge Forms

Asphaltene sludge many times contains resins, paraffin, high molecular weight hydrocarbons, formation fines, and entrapped water. Normally asphaltene will not sludge out because a surface coating of asphaltic resins keeps them in a stable colloidal dispersion. However, in the presence of acid or acid in the presents of iron, asphaltene forms an insoluble sludge or rigid film emulsion. Acid creates sludge by destabilizing polar charges around asphaltene particles.

Petroplex Acidizing Anti-Sludge Systems

FEAS-6A: The FEAS-6A anti-sludge system consists of 15% to 28% acid and blended surfactant that includes inhibitor, non emulsion, and may not need iron reducing agents. FEAS-6A acid system is totally anionic.

FEAS-2X: The FEAS-2X anti-sludge system is a proprietary blend developed by Petroplex Acidizing. The system can be used in 5% to 28% hydrochloric acid and can include a wide range of various additives. The FEAS-2X system is our most commonly ordered anti-sludge system. FEAS-2X is anionic.

FEAS-2: The FEAS-2 anti-sludge system is a less concentrated version of FEAS-2X chemical. FEAS-2 normally requires the use of FE2X iron reducing agent. FEAS-2 is limited to 15% and below hydrochloric acid strength.

FEAS-5C: The FEAS-5C anti-sludge system can be used in 5% to 28% hydrochloric acid and is used widely in West Texas and Southeast New Mexico areas. The system is cationic and can include a wide range of chemical additives.

Plexgel: The Plexgel anti-sludge system can be used in 5% to 20% hydrochloric acid. The gelled acid system includes acid inhibitor, non emulsion, and anti-sludge chemicals. Plexgel allows moderate acid spending rates which extends acid placement further into the formation. Plexgel is cationic.

NEFEDXBX: The NEFEDXBX anti-sludge system is used when sludging with crude oil is minimal. NEFEDXBX is nonionic and widely used in West Texas and Southeast New Mexico.

Petrol Systems: Petrol systems are anti-sludge emulsion blends with aromatic solvent, hydrochloric acid, and surfactants. Petrol blends prevents and removes existing sludge.
